HYANCINTH MACAWS


The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest species in the macaw family (Macaws are a type of parrot). The Hyacinth Macaw eats nuts, seeds, fruits and other vegetable matter. Hyacinth Macaws live in Brazil and are highly endangered due to habitat loss, overcollection for the pet trade, and by the use of their feathers by the Kayapo Indians in southern Brazil. These Indians use the feathers to make headdresses for the tourist trade
