The Orangutan is a great ape with long arms and reddish brown fur. Orangutans are found in the rainforests of Malaysia and Indonesia where they spend most of their time in trees feeding on fruit and plant matter. Orangutans are highly endangered in the wild due to habitat loss (the destruction of rainforests for logging and agriculture) the illegal trapping of baby Orangutans for the pet trade.

Orangutans are critically endangered in the wild because of rapid deforestation and the expansion of palm oil plantations.
If nothing is done to protect orangutans, they could be extinct in just a few years.
